Background
Rune Andersson founded Ljungby Maskin in 1983, after his previous company Ljungbytruck was sold to Kalmar Industries in 1975. Wheel loader production in Ljungby has continued for over 40 years, and the factory today builds machines in a range of sizes for agriculture, industry, ports, forestry and municipal use.
Ljungby Maskin is a niche manufacturer producing fewer than 200 machines per year. That is a small volume compared to the major manufacturers, but it has allowed the company to maintain high flexibility and tailor each machine to the customer's specific requirements. Engines are supplied by Mercedes-Benz, Agco (Sisu) and Scania. Gearboxes and axles come from ZF. Hydraulic pumps from Parker and Sauer-Danfoss.
Timeline
1960
Rune Andersson and his brother Holger start a workshop business on the family farm outside Ljungby. They manufacture forklifts, initially based on converted trucks.
1966
The business has outgrown the farm premises. A new factory is built in Ljungby and the company takes the name Ljungbytruck.
1975
Ljungbytruck is sold to Kalmar Industries. Rune Andersson leaves the company and begins planning his real ambition: to manufacture wheel loaders.
1983
Ljungby Maskin AB is founded. The first wheel loader is built in a small workshop on Rune Andersson's farm outside Ljungby. The model is called the 1221 - the first two digits indicate machine weight in tonnes, the last two indicate bucket volume in tenths of a cubic metre.
1986
Demand has grown and a new 12,000 m² factory is built in Ljungby. The model range is expanded with the 1015 and 1526.
1990s
The 1322 model is manufactured and sold to farmers, forestry operators and municipalities across the Nordic countries.
Today
Ljungby Maskin continues to manufacture wheel loaders in Ljungby. Subsidiaries operate in Denmark and the Netherlands.

Ljungby 1322 - in our stock
The 1322 is an articulated wheel loader in the compact class from the 1990s, designed for agriculture, stable environments, forestry and municipal use. The numeric designation follows Ljungby Maskin's original naming convention: the first two digits indicate machine weight in tonnes, the last two indicate bucket volume in tenths of a cubic metre. A 1322 therefore weighs around 13 tonnes and carries a 2.2 m³ bucket. Today's model designations - L9, L13, L15 and so on - instead indicate machine size on a simplified scale.
We have dismantled a Ljungby 1322 from 1992. The parts have been inspected, photographed and registered in stock. The availability of used spare parts for these older machines is limited - what is here today may not be tomorrow.
